Wow! Where has 2014 gone? This has been a HUGE year for me! I graduated high school and started college. I’ve grown so much as a person and I can confidently say that I am truly happy with who I’ve become. I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store! Here are my favorite things from 2014. If you would like to see my favorites from 2013 you can check that out here. Enjoy! 🙂
For the majority of 2014 I’ve used the L’oreal foundation. It gave me good coverage and wasn’t very expensive. It is light and I really enjoy the finish of it. It’s easy to throw on and is my go-to whenever I am in a rush. November of 2014 I went through my first breakup. As a “well damn Liv, you are fabulous” gift I decided to splurge and buy the Tarte foundation that I’ve been lusting over for practically forever. The coverage is impeccable and I am so glad I decided to purchase it. Even though it is $38 it is SO worth it.
2. Cheek Product: NARS Laguna and Orgasm Duo
Christmas of 2013 my Aunt Amy surprised me with the full size NARS duo! I’ve been wanting it for so long and it was such a great surprise! I don’t know what I would do without this product. This summer I hit pan of the bronzer so I plan on purchasing the full size one in 2015. I definitely favor the bronzer but I love the blush as well!
3. Eye Product: Stila in the Light Palette
Even though everyone seems to be on the Naked by Urban Decay train I reach for my Stila Palette so much more! Specifically I love the color “Kitten”. It’s a beautiful champagne color and makes my eyes pop! I also have recently learned how to do a subtle smokey eye and this is the palette I use for it.
4. Skincare Product: Cetaphil Moisturizer and Cleanser
Near the end of winter/beginning of spring in 2014 my skin got really bad. It got to the point where everything I was trying was not working. I went to the dermatologist and now I am all better! I plan on writing a post about my skin story so I won’t go into too much detail right now. Basically my dermatologist instructed me to use a basic cleanser on my face. The only “skincare” I do now is wash my face with Cetaphil and then put on prescribed topical cream before bed.
5. Nail Polish: OPI- Cajun Shrimp
I am literally cracking up writing this. I worked at a day care center my senior year of high school and I got this nail polish in a teacher appreciation gift. I guess I was having a brain lapse and pronounced the color “Ka-hoon Shrimp”. My mom still makes fun of me to this day! Other than the name I do love the color. Its a great red with an orange undertone.
6. Hair Product: Not Your Mothers Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream
This is my favorite drugstore product that tames the beast (aka my crazy curly hair). A little goes a long way. Make sure not to apply much on your scalp because it will make your hair very greasy! The only thing I don’t really enjoy about it is the strong grape scent. It sometimes smells like children’s tylenol and thats never a good time.
7. Lip Product: YSL Rouge Volupte (#8)
Christmas of 2013 my friend Julia got me this. I was floored. She knew I had been eyeing this lipstick for a long time and I still thank her to this day for getting it for me! It’s a great color that you could wear everyday. I’m thinking about investing in another color soon!
8. Perfume: Pink Sugar
Christmas of 2013 my friend Maddy got me this perfume! I am a huge vanilla lover and simply adore the scent. I get tons of compliments (specifically from men) when I wear it. So moral of the story ladies, if you want to attract a man get your hands on this perfume!
9. Clothing: Norts & Vests
If you don’t already know; Norts are another word for Nike Shorts. This past year I have gotten tons of pairs and they are perfect for summer and hanging out! I love the vibrant colors they are offered in also! I have recently become obsessed with vests. For Christmas last year I got a berry J Crew one! I wore that all last winter. This summer I was on the hunt for the Herringbone vest from J Crew Factory. I was one of the lucky ones that purchased it for only $70! It is by far one of my favorite clothing pieces I own. I also recently got this black and white polka dot one from Target. Its a children’s one but the XL fits just fine!
10. Accessory: Monogram Necklaces
Just like last year; the simplicity of a monogram necklace still holds a very special place in my heart. This past year I invested in a gold one and I am in love. I am slowly turning into a lover of gold jewelry. I have also been loving Alex and Ani bracelets. I have a pineapple one my friend Stephanie got me for graduation and I also have a mermaid one.
Christmas of 2013 I got the black and gold Tory Burch Reva flats. My mom originally thought they would be a waste of money and I wouldn’t wear them. Jokes on her because I wore them probably for 1/3 of 2014 (told you so, mom)! They are my favorite pair of shoes I own! I’m thinking about getting tan ones this year. I also got the Tory Burch Miller sandals this summer and wore them almost everyday! They spice up any outfit and are adorable!
12. Netflix Shows: Orange is the New Black & Weeds & Breaking Bad
If you haven’t watched any of these shows stop what you are doing right now, reevaluate your life, and go watch them. I don’t want to sit here and talk about each one. Just go watch them, you’ll love them!
13. Food: Starbucks Iced Coffee & Frozen Mangos
No matter the season my go-to drink at Starbucks is an iced coffee with skim milk and two sweet and lows. What can I say; I’m a simple kind of gal. This spring I went to Trader Joe’s and picked up frozen mango chunks. OMG. They are so good! Let them thaw a little and it tastes like froyo! Easily my favorite summertime snack!
14. Music: Rap & Alternative
This past year I began to really enjoy rap music. Specifically Schoolboy Q and Childish Gambino. I really enjoy the beat and they are fun to sing at the top of your lungs in the car with your friends! This past May I went to the Sweetlife Music Festival. It’s a huge alternative music festival where artists like Lana Del Rey, Capital Cities, and Imagine Dragons preform. It was one of my favorite experiences from 2014 and I can’t wait to go again in 2015!
15. Brands: Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitzer
I became addicted to Lilly Pulitzer this past year. I even went to the Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale in June! I love the prints and vibe of the brand. In addition I started to really enjoy Kate Spade. I love how brand portrays itself as fun, sophisticated, and chic!
